Jonathan graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Computer Science in 2024. As an undergraduate, he worked on research projects in organic synthesis and photoredox catalysis in Professor Rashanique Quarel’s laboratory. Jonathan was accepted into Princeton University’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows in Chemistry Program during the summers of 2022 and 2023, where he had the opportunity to work in Professor Robert Knowles’ laboratory on projects related to photoredox catalysis and synthetic methodology. In addition, Jonathan has served as the President of Rowan Engineers Without Borders. As President, he helped the student chapter collaborate with nonprofit community gardens in Southern New Jersey to build greenhouses, garden beds, and accessible walkways for individuals with physical disabilities. In January 2023, he traveled to the community of Ambuela, Ecuador with five undergraduate students and a faculty mentor to assess the community’s water supply and test for contaminants such as chlorine, nitrates, E. Coli, and total coliforms. Jonathan is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at Rutgers University – New Brunswick in Professor Zhang’s research group.
